Mow the Grass

(from August 18, 2012)

"For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." - Ephesians2:10

I’ve been wrestling internally (and sharing a littleexternally) with this verse this week. Looking at the fact that we “are God’shandiwork,” then considering the fact that we were “created in Christ Jesus todo good works.” This morning I’m grasping with the fact that the good works wedo “God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Today, I really need to mow the grass.

Is that a good work that God that God has prepared inadvance for us to do? Is it? Maybe. Why not? What would happen if we approachedall work with the attitude that it is a good work that God has prepared inadvance for us to do? How would weapproach that work? And how would that change our attitudes?

And if you can’t buy into the fact that mowing the grass,or going shopping, or going to work or (you fill in the blank) isn’t a goodwork that God has prepared in advance for you to do…fine. Then be very alert for that work which iscoming. Because it could be anytime, anywhere.

For now, I need to mow the grass.

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to dogood works. Yep. Have a blessed Saturdayeveryone!
