“Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he
gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent,
nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.” John 1:12,13
It’s sort of an American thing I
guess. We all want to claim our rights,
and Lord doesn’t the fur fly when we feel our rights have been violated.
Yet…there is one right that so many people are just not claiming, that so many
people don’t care about; that frankly so many people are flippant about
rejecting. That is the right to become
children of God.
And if you are a believer and
truster in Christ, this is heart breaking. For to know people who march forward
in Christless existences, Christless eternities, is like knowing people who are
walking to the edge of a cliff.
What’s even more heart breaking,
however, is that so many Christ followers are remaining silent within sight of
this relentless march. Where are the broken hearts? Where are the voices of
warning?
Maybe…I need to really check my
heart first. Maybe my voice has been oh
so silent. I need to do some serious
repenting.
Friends, we have a right. The right
to become children of God. If you are
reading this, all I can assay is I pray you have claimed your right. And if you have not….is today the day?
